Self advocacy for aspies
June 19th, 2009
I think if we (Aspies) know why we are more unique than other people then we will better know how to advocate for our selves and also know what obstacles to be aware of. For instance, I know a guy who knows that he sometimes says inappropriate comments but only after it’s to late, so he let’s people know up front that he has asperger’s & that he wants hem to tell him if he offends them so he’ll know not to do it again.
Some people just naturally have good communication & socail skills & other people need some training or to be taught the basics of etiquette. Anyway, you know what they say? If we’re not learning then we’re not changing, and if we’re not changing, then were not growing…
